It’s fairly obvious that electricity generated by photovoltaics (PV) has much lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions (GHG emissions) than fossil fuels. However, GSE’s CIGS thin film PV has even lower GHG emissions than common crystalline silicon (glass) modules. The low material consumption of CIGS, combined with an efficient manufacturing process, results in low ecotoxicity and GHG emissions. Conflict Minerals Policy
GSE is committed to responsible sourcing and operating a supply chain free of “conflict minerals”, including gold, tin, tantalum, and tungsten (or any other derivative determined by the Secretary of State) which are sourced from the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (“DRC”) or an adjoining country whose trade are financing conflict in the Conflict Region. We support the goals established under Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act on conflict minerals and condemn human rights abuse associated with the extraction, transport, or trade of minerals and any direct or indirect support to non-state armed groups or security forces that illegally control or tax mine sites, transport routes, trade points, or any upstream actors in the supply chain. Also, GSE has a “no tolerance” policy with respect to corruption, money-laundering, and bribery.
GSE has an active Wellness Committee that regularly creates opportunities for our employees to give back to the community. Recent activities have included food drives for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, corporate walk teams in support of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and LLS (Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), and sponsorship of Racing for the Sun, a high school competition of solar-powered go-karts.
Employee Health and Safety
GSE has been recognized by The Healthy Arizona Worksites Program by acheiving the Gold Award Level. This award is given to businesses that have integrated worksite health programs and promoting healthy lifestyle choices and providing companywide activities to keep employees active.
GSE has an active safety program that has delivered impressive results in employee safety. In addition, over 50% of the employees take part in regular activities sponsored by the Health and Wellness Committee, such as friendly team walking contests, wellness seminars, health screenings and healthy cooking demonstrations that improve the health of our employees.
