Laptops are tricky to charge. We recommend using a portable external battery to connect to the laptop and connect our solar panel to the portable external battery for charging. You can try charging your laptop directly using the laptop manufacturer's car charger adapter connecting one end to the laptop and the other end into the car charger receptacle cable made for our solar panel, but the odds are this won't provide enough current for the laptop. See our brochure called Laptop Options under the Instructions section of our web site for more information. - Do I need some kind of voltage control with my folding solar panel?
If you are using either our SUNLINQ 6.5W or 12W product no voltage control is necessary because there is voltage control built into the panel. With any other of our folding solar panels voltage control may be necessary. Be sure to check your device or battery operating instructions for voltage input and output recommendations before charging with our solar panels. - What type of voltage control do I need for the different battery types?
If you are using a SUNLINQ 6.5W or 12W folding solar panel, no voltage control is necessary because there is voltage control built into the panel. With any other of our folding solar panels you will most likely need the 7AMP Charge Controller for any Lead Acid battery and the Voltage Limiter for any other type of rechargeable battery. Be sure to check your device or battery operating instructions for voltage input and output recommendations before charging with our solar panels. - Can I connect more than one folding solar panel together?
Yes, you can connect the folding solar panels together using a "Y" cable from Global Solar, available from any of our dealers. We do not recommend connecting a SUNLINQ 6.5W or SUNLINQ 12W to a SUNLINQ 25W or any of the P3 models because of the built-in voltage limiter in the SUNLINQ 6.5W and 12W. But you can connect a SUNLINQ 6.5W to another SUNLINQ 6.5W or to a SUNLINQ 12W.
