Senior Product Development Engineer

This position has the responsibility for developing new and upgraded products and processes based on product and marketing requirements. Key efforts include project leadership, product definition, evaluation of new materials and structures, and coordination or execution of product testing, including product reliability and certification.

Must Haves

• At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field (Electrical, Materials, Mechanical, Reliability preferred). Doctorate degree desirable.
• At least five years experience in Product Development

Desired Skills and Experience

• Product design and testing history involving polymer properties, selection and validation
• Instrumentation for and measurement of electronic materials and devices
• Product design and certification of products (e.g. UL, IEC, MIL STD)
• Reliability and failure analysis
• Statistical software for modeling and trend interpretation
• Semiconductor physics, metallurgy, and semiconductor fabrication processes


Chemical Process Engineer

This position supports our high quality manufacturing and R&D Company’s operations. Our CIGS-based thin film is used to produce high efficiency flexible modules for our commercial products and to supply OEMs.  This position has responsibilities mostly in Process Engineering, but also in Operations and Equipment areas of the business.

Must Haves:

• BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science or equivalent degree in technical field
• Ability to work efficiently with a team of engineers, manufacturing personnel and scientists
• Experience in SPC, data correlation/reduction, failure analysis, and SOP creation
• Excellent and effective communications skills whether with management or production workers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn/use company ERP system

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Reporting of metrics, status of failure analysis, corrective actions, and improvement plans
• Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Data Analysis, experience in JMP
• Technical understanding at the level of constant improvement
• CdS thin-film deposition experience is preferred/beneficial
• Converting, photovoltaic, or semiconductor industry experience is helpful, as is wastewater & RODI systems experience


PV Scientist - Substrate

This position’s focus is optimizing electrical device properties of thin film CIGS solar cells made on stainless steel foil. Main task will be to improve stainless steel foil substrate in collaboration with the vendors to optimize solar cell performance. Efficiency gains will be realized through systematic analytical work, identifying failure modes/defect patterns, developing/testing technical models and working with vendors to optimize substrate properties. This scientist will support process engineering and manufacturing in efforts to continually increase efficiency and yield and reduce cost. He/She will identify changes and monitor variability of production substrate material and in collaboration with process engineers correlate how substrate properties influence processing parameters at various stages of the state of the art roll-to-roll thin film solar cell production flow. The scientist will also be developing and refining characterization methods including off-line and in-situ methods for substrate properties in production tools.

Must Haves:

• PhD degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Physics or related field
• 1-5 years experience with processing of thin stainless steel strips or similar metal substrate
• Familiarity with thin film coating techniques and web processing
• Experienced in developing analytical methods, Statistical Data Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE)
• Ability to summarize complex data sets for technical and non-technical audiences  

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Extensive knowledge of stainless steel foil properties
• Familiarity with thin film coating techniques and web processing
• Ability to identify correlations between properties, processes, and device performance
• Experience with characterization methods including off-line and in-situ methods
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within diverse groups throughout the organization
